Regional Research Station
The College of Horticulture was established during the year 1991 at Mudigere (Chickmagalur District) by the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore to impart knowledge and experience in various fileds of Horticulture and allied subjects and to strength the research and developmental activities in Horticulture in the state. Annually 40-45 meritorious students, who have passed Pre-University examinations or equivalent with the combination of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology or Agriculture are admitted for four year Bachelor Degree Programme in Horticulture [ B. Sc (Horticulture) ]. The year wise intake and number graduated is presented below :

Faculty :
The College is headed by the Director of Instruction ( Horticulture ) and has a faculty to teach Horticulture especailly Pomology, Plantation Crops, Olericulture and Post Harvest Technology and Other Agricultural Subjects viz., Agronomy, Agricultural Entomology, Plant Pahtology, Agricultural Extension, Agricultural Economics, Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, Genetics and Plant Breeding and related fileds.
Infrastructure :
The College is equipped with spacious class rooms, audio visual teaching aids, well equipped laboratories, crop museum, glass house, plant conservatory and sufficient land for field experiments. The teaching process is supported by library and computer centre with ARIS network. For students accomodation at the campus, seperate hostels for boys & girls are created. To encourage sports activity among students like outdoor as well as indoor stadium have been established.
Sports, Cultural and Other Activities :
The students from the college are regularly selected for University team in Kho-Kho, Ball Badminton, Table Tennis, Volley Ball and Cricket. The college has won inter-campus championship and Runner-up in several events for several times.
Various cultural clubs like Science Club, Lierary Club, Adventure Club, Music and Dance Club, Social Club and Fine Arts Club are formed for the benefit of students. In addition to these regular students counselling for competitive exams, publication of college magazines, NSS and other several activities are carried out every year.
Research :
Research on various Horticultural crops viz., Cashew, Turmeric, Ginger, Coffee, Aromatics Crops, Banana and Minor fruits, Root vegetables, Cole Crops, Jasmine, Rose, Gladious, Anthurium and value added products of fruits and vegetables are under progress.
Consultancy :
The experience of the faculty is available for consultancy services to the farmers/private bodies on any field of Horticulture and allied subjects.
